Over the weekend, I was visiting my sister and her family in Sandy Eggo. We were running errands and stopped by a Target near their house. This is what I found… Pink gnomes… disguised as cutesy and ready to buy in their “priced right” section as you first walk in. Clearly, the place has a gnome problem and they are trying to get rid of them.
By the way, does this remind you of today’s cartoon, or what?!!!
While reading, “Witch is When I Said Goodbye (A Witch P.I. Mystery Book 10)” by Adele Abbott I found myself thinking of the comic and wanted to share this quote with you:
“The next door neighbour was out in the garden. At first, I thought she was weeding, but then I realised she was actually having a conversation with the garden gnomes. Oh boy!
“I don’t care if you’re cold, Harold, you can’t come in the house. Look at Angela; she isn’t complaining, is she? Oh dear, John, have those horrible cats been peeing on you again?”
“Hello?” I tried to catch her eye.”
She straightened, and began to rub her back. “Hello, dear. I didn’t see you there. I was busy seeing to my little ones.”
“Right.”
“They’re such hard work. Do you have any?”
“Gnomes?”
“Shush! Don’t call them that. They don’t like it.”
“Sorry. No, I don’t have any.”
“Take my advice. Don’t start. You buy one. Then another. And, before you know it, you’re overrun with them. They take over your life.”
“I’ll remember that.” I’d have to make this quick before someone realised this woman had escaped. “Does Hilary Vicars still live next door?”
Maybe a certain artist does not have an unwarranted fear of gnomes!
Oh, and the book is part of a series that is full of such fun, but insane, moments.
I LOVE this, Ying_Ko! hahaha… AND there’s a Harold, as well! Yes, gnomes get grouchy when the cats pee/spray on them! (our neighbor, who has no known gnomes, have a cat that sprays! But I have gnomes in my yard… they seem to be okay, so maybe they’ve been spared “slinky cat’s, ahem… attention)… in any case… this is delightful and thank you for sharing!
