I have given this a great deal of thought and it was not an easy decision for me… but I’ve decided to move on from doing regular comics. In other words, I’m going to end “Randie & Ryan” and “Squid Row” at the end of September.
The final Randie & Ryan will be on Sept. 27 and the last Squid Row will be on Sept. 29th.
After moving to Oregon last year, I wanted a reinvention. New place. New home. New me. It became clearer and clearer that the direction I was heading in was not comics, but art. I became a member in an art gallery and my focus began to shift. I’ve decided to throw ALL my energy at the “fine art” side of things.
I want to thank you for coming along on this ride with me… following the adventures of Randie Springlemeyer and Ryan Goodfellow. They have been such close family. And I don’t believe that I will walk away from them forever… I know I’ll call them up from time to time, but it won’t be a regular page thing. Over the years, your readership, and support, has been amazing and I cannot thank you enough.
I won’t be touching the archives or the websites… and I will probably post things from time to time with updates on things in the blog. I encourage you to visit bridgettspicer.com as that will be where I will be focusing more. Also, visit my instagram account… instagram.com/brigtoon … where I update frequently.
Those of you who give on Patreon, be sure to see how I’ll be changing up what’s being offered. Thank you for your support!
Again, thank you so much! -Bridgett

It’s been a fine run, Brig. I’m sad for us Squiddies, but happy for you and yours, and wish you all the best in your “fine-art centric” route.
Maybe you could post every now and then? A comic for Christmas and stuff like that. (Though as a writer, I know how you must always move forward.)
Regardless, I’ll be keeping an eye on you! (Well, your website and postings. No need to get all creepy. *lol!*)
Good luck and good fortune!
Thank you, Pete. The well-wishing means a lot from an old-time Squiddie like yourself. It has been so much fun. The Squid Row gang is family.
Definitely expect a post or cartoon every now and again… maybe not a full on strip… but a cartoon. And updates in the blog.
Many hugs!
Good luck in your new path, and thanks for all the art and entertainment that you gave us.
Thank you, GB. I appreciate your readership… It warms my heart that you enjoyed the stories, etc.
I can never blame anyone who says that the time has come to move on. Running a regularly updating comic is like a black hole that sucks of time and energy, no matter how much you may enjoy doing it. A friend of mine, an illustrator from one of the First Nations of Canada, has been after me for years to develop the first comic comic for syndication by and about Native Americans. Aside from not wanting a comic based on real events from my own life, neither of us can find enough consecutive hours to get past the planning stage.
Bilbo,
Weird. I know an illustrator from one of the First Nations. He’d done all my novel covers.
Uncle Bilbo… It is a very time-investment, doing comics, maintaining websites with the uploading and such. I have always enjoyed the time spent making the comics here. Now that my focus is in a gallery, there aren’t enough hours in my day to fill all my requirements.
Yes, the hours spent in story planning, dialogue creation, comic structure, coloring, formatting and uploading… and then promoting, conventions, merchandising, etc… it’s a commitment… and so you don’t jump in without thinking about it real hard.
Thank you for your following… and the insightful commentary over the years. Thank you, Uncle Bilbo. All the Best.
So sad at this news. Randie and Ryan and the gang have been part of my life since they first appeared in The Monterey Herald. When that ended I forced myself to learn to follow you online (not that easy for my generation). I have one of your “originals” on my living room wall. I feel as though I am losing a member of the family. Happy trails to you as you go forward. I will miss you.
Oh, wow…. Thank you for reaching out. I’m so incredibly happy that you stayed on after it ceased to be in the Herald… and that you have an original on your wall! I feel so touched that the comics meant that much to you. Thank you for reading all these years… and I’m sorry that it feels like loss… it does for me as well… it will be hard to let go for me… but new leaf-turning is like that.
Please come visit me at Bridgettspicer.com … I’ll be there.
Thank you, Roberta!
Glad you’ve got an ending planned and all at least. Still sad to see you go, though.
Good luck in the future.
Legacy… thank you so much. It has been my pleasure to have done these here comics for over a decade (at least Squid Row)… it’s been a wild ride… thank you for reading and coming along!
Don’t forget to visit bridgettspicer.com from time to time. I’ll not walk away entirely… I’ll throw things up on this site every so often.. because I hate endings of things. I really do.
Sorry to hear that. Best of luck.
RN… Thank you so much… for your readership & your constant commentary as well as the best wish-ery-ing.
We all need to change things up in life at times, but I am very sad to see Randie & Ryan and the SquidRow gang go. I’m so glad I found your comics few years ago (from far away Chicago). I’ve enjoyed following all the characters and their own growth and changes. Best wishes for your future adventures, and I will look forward to seeing what you’re up to next. And Harold adventures too! 😉
BTW, Will there ever be a possibility of a printed book with all the SquidRow and Randie&Ryan comics? – crossing my fingers, but am happy to hear the archives will stay.
Nadia… I’m so glad that you found me! Yes, I’m sad to not be spending the time with the Squid Row Gang also. I’m so glad that you have enjoyed the stories and the fun over the past couple of years. I’ll be floating around bridgettspicer.com more now. From time to time, I’ll put something up on these other sites. For giggles.
There are the two books for Squid Row: Welcome to the Neighborhood, and Down But Not Out. You can find them under the book section on the aforementioned website.
As far as future books… it was always my intention to bring another book to light… Now that there are 3 years-ish of R&R, perhaps it will happen. Squid Row is deserving of one as well. I will not commit to it presently…We’ll see if there is time opening in the future. Is that vague or what!??? Sheesh! Okay, let’s say…. check back.
Thank you for your well-wishing and your enthusiasm! Smiles upon you, Nadia!
Sorry, late as usual to the good-bye party. What a lovely, wonderfully heart-warming run its been for us Squiddies; You and Randy and Ryan have given us some really fun stories about love and faith, paint and scooters. Go out and capture some beauty, Brig
Thank you.
… thank YOU for reading, bscruffy… It’s been a fun run… and I am so glad that you enjoyed the comic… thank you for your kind words… I’m so glad that we got to know one another. Smiles!
Good luck Brig. Thanks for the amusing compics. I still hopeMouse gets together with Midge.
