Randie’s Weakness…
Nov19
Randie and thrift stores have some history. There’s some sort of magnetic pull, as well.

But isn’t that her Vespid money she’s spending?
Oh, yes… But Randie has an Achilles Heel.
“I’m in the money, I’m in the money, I’ve got a lot of what it takes to get along…”
Yes… but for how long?
“Once I built a railroad, made it run, made it race against time, / Once I built a railroad, now it’s done, brother can you spare a dime?”
Ooooo… that’s a fifty on top of that stack of moola! Hope that’s the smallest denomination.
Randie did great, hitting the SA to celebrate. Always good stuff at low prices, satisfaction in buying yourself a couple things without busting the budget. AND that Vespa’s getting closer!
Yes, it’s true that she could blow her money at a much more expensive boutique… and not at SA where the prices are lower… but still… Randie needs to focus on her goal…
Randie, good at making the money, not so good at saving the money. 🙂
Do you think, Gramy? Whenever we’ve gotten a sudden chunk of change, we’d celebrate on the cheap, which gave us a sense of closure on the event while also saving a massive chunk of the money.
Besides, unles SA Thrift Store prices have shot through the roof, I doubt Randie spent more than $30 total for the the three pieces. She certainly would have gotten change for that fifty. And this way she has an inexpensive – and useful! – immediate reward while also saving up the bulk of the moola for her Vespid.
Yes, it is a good point… but I am not sure that Randie has much self control… enough not to blow more than she intended … but maybe this is an exercise in control.
I’ve been in Randie’s position, and sadly spent more than I intended before I ever realized it. When shopping cheap, it’s sometimes very easy to lose track of just how quickly it can add up. I hope that Randie knows better, but she has shown in the past that she doesn’t always keep as good of track of her money as she would like.
’tis true… you need to keep that running tab going in your head while you shop. I was in a thrift store this weekend… thankfully, I didn’t see anything that grabbed me. It was 50% off luggage… which really makes for good storage. It’s got a handle and everything!
She’ll figure it out. I’d have gone for the bag and scarf, too, and banked the rest. Good for you, Ms. Randie!
It’s very French of her… ( and you!) the French don’t have large wardrobes… they’d have nowhere to put them… (nonexistent closets) so they have basics like a few shirts and pants… and then accessorize with the scarves and bags.
I have to resist the temptation of bags, boxes, and other little storage containers. They’re too much fun.
AH-GREED! … I love boxes and stuff… but strangely, I am not that great of an organizer. I don’t live up to my storage potential.
At least she’s being frugal where she spends her fashion dollar. It could have been a lot worse.
