Packing
Apr28
Packing usually takes me forever… it’s all about getting the right things that I’ll need OR MIGHT NEED… I tend to think about the packing… then draw what I’m packing, then rethink what I’m packing and then over think what I’m packing. Sigh.
*heh* We’re packing even as you speak-write, Brig. We’re off the RavenCon in Williamsburg, VA! And we’ll have SQUID ROW and RANDIE & RYAN stuff on display and for sale in the Dealers Room! So all you Squiddies in the area, come on over to the Double Dragon tables and peruse the AWESOME art of our BODACIOUS BRIG!

And I’ll bet Ryan’s got very good at packing, like we have. And I bet Randie still has a lot to learn about packing.
So in the Dealers Room… you ‘ll find all kinds of interesting things… besides Pete’s goodies (at Double Dragon) and a selection of my silliness, there’s The Mystic Waboose, Clockwork Cat, and A Geek and Her Machine. Almost sounds like a short story challenge, don’t it? Write a story with these three things… go-write. hahahaha.
Anyhow, thanks for the shout. I wish upon you good sales and a fun time! And yes, Randie stinks at packing… you can see how precise Ryan is. Just imagine the mess RANDIE’S suitcase would be.
Hey, Brig!
Only sold one “Drink Coffee, Make Art” poster, but lots and lots of lookie-loos. A number flipped through the “Down & Out on Squid Row” book and loved the art. (You were compared to Lynn Johnston and Garry Trudeau.) Some picked up business cards. It was a great Dealers Room but this year’s crowd just wasn’t buying that much of anything.
I feel honored to be said in the same sentence as Lynn Johnston and Garry Trudeau. Funny… they are both Canadian. I wonder what that means. Hmm.
BUT, I am sorry it wasn’t more profitable. Sometimes a Con can just be fickle.
Wonder if the kitten will get separation anxiety.
Ella sees Ryan most all the time, whereas Randie has been out working at Spill’s. I think she’ll notice Ryan’s absence for sure!
Did the kitten throw the sock ball?
If you know you’ve got laundry facilities, that’s a game changer when packing.
Laundry facilities… yes, it would. The hotel laundry situation is rather expensive. But a laundromat nearby would could be a cheaper way to deal with it. One week… I think Ryan can pack alright for that without laundering.
I have been reading your comic for quite a while now–and binge read Squid Row before that. Well, thank you so much for it. I love your art, the way you dress your characters (Enids skirt on the previous page is just wow for example), the dialogues, the character developement (even though I don’t understand Randie a lot of times) and so on.
Thanks once more.
Greetings from Switzerland
Gluteus… thank you! I am smiling largely right now! And… I’m so happy that you’ve enjoyed Squid Row… and that you made the leap to R&R. I think I’m gonna smile all day long now. Thank you, from California!
Ps. I will share with you something… Keep an eye on the squidrowcomics.com website. Something nifty will happen there soon.
That last panel is that one word too long to not get something thrown at him! Why is it as guys we always feel compelled to add that last word that gets us hit with something?
A week, hm? My current job is week on/week off. It’s not hard to pack for that, thankfully! One suitcase, and that’s with munchies. Pro tip….. don’t fold your shirts. Fold them in half then roll them into a little tube, they seem to be so much easier to pack that way!
Trev… no clue. I have found that whilst in argument mode, there can be a fair amount of that.
I agree with the rolling bit! My Gram taught me how to pack and shared that same tip. I have done this ever since. I have been told that I am a master packer. My only problem is that I usually bring too much!
