Not surprising…

It should not be surprising that Randie’s New Year’s behavior is of a procrastinative nature.
It should not be surprising that Randie’s New Year’s behavior is of a procrastinative nature.
So, this is the one that you’ve been putting off? (he, he!)
Procrastination… a lifelong battle. For me and Randie, anyway.
Somehow I wonder if Randie has at least as big a problem with structure as she does with procrastination itself. She obviously doesn’t like the planner.
I’m not a procrastinator as such, but left to myself I tend to live a very quiet, private life. I’ve just never been left to myself for very long. I was raised by over-achievers, my college years were constantly disrupted by my sister’s bad (in the best possible way) influence, and finally I fell into the evil clutches of my Tiny Lady Veterinarian and the Apache Nation. I’m actually at my best when kept busy, I like being busy, but I’m not necessarily good at keeping myself busy. My Grandmother was the first to say that I ‘walk with the Spirits’, which in part is an old-fashioned Cherokee way of saying that trouble has a way of finding me.
Well…if one of her goals was to get paintings in a gallery, she *might* be working on that now. Some people do handle their goals better when they’re not written down!
Randie has made a new friend… it’s good to maintain friendships … and this is on my goal list every year… take nothing for granted, especially dear friends. And yah… there’s the painting thing.
“He’s leavin’, leavin, on the midnight train to Phoenix…”
Or… he’s driving the mischievous ArtVan to Phoenix…
So long as he’s not leaving with Spill or any of Spill’s or Randie’s money…
Randie doesn’t need to work on procrastination. I’d say she’s got it nailed down perfectly! 😉
Oh… she’s a pro.
“You needn’t work on procrastination, it works on you just fine.” As an old teacher of mine once said. In my case it’s less procrastination and more chronic distraction (I get lost in my head and stop what I was doing to think), but the end is roughly the same with less shoe leather spent!
Chronic Distraction… yah… I suffer from that when I do research… I find myself tangent-ing all over the place!
Lol… harsh, Rye!
He knows Randie better than anybody… procrastination is thing for Randie… it often keeps her from reaching her goals. Ryan is just nudging.
Most of us find accomplishing a short term goal in a short time to be do-able…and a big goal in a big amount of time to be a recipe for procrastination. I’ve made myself a lot happier on New Years Day to set reasonably lofty goals for the 1st day of the year like: make real coffee, watch Rose parade with wife, go on short enjoyable hike; and I have a 100% accomplishment rate so far.
Nice… Yes, reasonable is good. Make real coffee… check! Rose Parade… check. Baby steps is a good way to keep things going.
There’s a great book, “The Art of Procrastination” by John Perry. He freely admits that it took him five years to write the small volume.
Well… he DID get it done. So that’s something.
Ain’t that the truth!? Does thinking about working on procrastination count as working on procrastination?
Sure… I think… let me think about that … later.
