Randie has found a new model. Do you think she’s won over by the cuteness? Just wait until Ella gets older… then we’ll see.
Personally, I find cats difficult to draw. Have you ever scene Chuck Jone’s cat sketches? GAH! He captured the cat spirit on paper. I try, but cats and trees kick my toosh.
‘Hold still’, huh? That’s almost as silly as when a roommate told a stray cat ‘OK, I fed you, now go away!’
Your comment reminded me of a song from a local band called, “Pet Me, Feed Me, Go Away”… by Vermillion Lies. It is often quoted at my house.
Quick-expose photos, five hundredths of a second…
Yes… Randie could cheat a little and take a snap with her phone and then translate… but life-drawing is more challenging.
My ONE and only drawing that ever looked close to good was a profile sketch I did of our cat Eliot. He was lying beside me on the floor as I was proof-reading one of my novels. He was holding so still, I did a quick five-minute drawing of him in the margins. It looked just like him.
I love Randie’s sketches! Caught him perfectly!
Thank you, Pete…
And now you will remember THAT moment forever… capturing your Eliot by drawing. Art has purpose and meaning.
Jackie Greyfox, the wild fox who commandeered our horse barn to raise her kits two years ago, had her third set of kits last Thursday night. Two females and a male. We always keep our distance as much as we can so that they grow up wild and move on when they get older, as hard as it is to resist widdle kits!. We can’t really handle any more house foxes, and we only take in foxes that can’t care for themselves in the wild.
THAT would be hard. I would want to snuggle and play… but as you say… it would be bad.
“Hold still”….for a cat?!
I know. Randie isn’t so experienced with the kitten-folk. She’ll get the hang of this whole thing eventually…and her sketchbook will be all sloppy with half drawn kittehs.
