Phobias and strange fears stem from somewheres. Randie has a past that is largely unknown to most peoples. If you’ve followed Squid Row from the beginning, you know that we don’t hear much about Randie’s dad. So this gives a little insight.

Ooooooo… back story! I love back story. Excellent, Brig!
(But what is it about we authors that we want to give our main characters such bummer back stories? I guess to have conflict. Without conflict, our main characters wouldn’t BE main characters.)
If our characters had cheery and upbeat or unchallenging lives, where would the conflict and interest be? What makes us most human are all the cracks and scrapes and brokenness. Randie is quirky and haunted (by gnomes and spiders) for a reason. It is what gives her her-ness.
ps. thank you.
Cookies cure all! Except a stomach ache.
Don’t forget cookie guilt. I suffer from this often. BUT THEY ARE SO GOOD! Must eat FIVE or SIX! Sigh.
… aw, heck… the dozen.
Associative childhood trauma. Yep, there’s a problem there. This is something that needs more in depth looking at. And cookies. Still doesn’t help gnomes being creepy though!
I think the only childhood memory of Randie’s I remember seeing is when she fed her hot dog to a bear.
Ha… yes, the shortest camping trip ever! There was a few Thanksgiving flashbacks as well… Mother’s day tributes…. and Christmas Pasts that I reposted this past Christmas over on Squidrowcomics.com.
Whoa, the Enid’s of the world are amazingly intuitive; they take you to answers you weren’t even asking questions about yet. I know a few personally, and even with my high expectations they amaze me with where they can guide a conversation.
Excellent comic, in both art and story.
Thank you, b. Enid is a very good art therapist. I imagine that it is something of a gift. You have to be trustworthy, likable, personable and know where to go in your questioning.
