I love the language of lovers. There’s always little things that they do that is THIER own thing.
Randie has this deep love of Vespids… here’s some Squid Row history on that…

My mate and I have this little thing we say to each other at times. It always throws other folks off when they see us look lovingly into each other’s eyes and say “You’re scum”.
LOL, when my mate and I were first dating all those long years ago, he was really uncomfortable with saying “I love you”. He’d heard too many folks use it as just a casual saying so often that it had pretty much lost it’s meaning for him.
So I asked him what he would prefer I said to him instead of those three little words that had lost their meaning. He said that I should come up with something odd and unusual to indicate how I felt about him, so I laughingly looked at him and said “You’re scum”.
It stuck and became our private little term of endearment over the years even though he eventually got comfortable with the “I love you” statement, we still occasionally just look into each other’s eyes and say “You’re scum” with all of the emotion of love sick school children. 🙂
That’s pretty sweet, Gramy, despite the connotation… but what are words anyway? Symbols… scum is the symbol of your everlasting love. So if you are feeling scummy… it is actually feeling in love and amorous. Ah, d’amour!
Brig,
You know what the bird’s head on the Vespid is, right?
Well, I had to look it up… and found that there was a wiki page on Mr. Horsepower. It’s a tad odd to have a vintage auto body shop mascot on an Italian scooter… and the photo was a scooter I saw in La Rochelle on a French Holiday!
Thanks for the info. I thought it was the Thrush Exhaust logo, which is similar. I now know better.
Yah, I saw that, too… VERY close… so very close.
Oh, I thought it was the Roadrunner from Looney Toons!
Apparently, the logo is often confused with Woody Woodpecker and The Road Runner. I have seen the logo before… but never made any connections to what it was for.
So who is your Ryan?
Jay… it’s funny… when I created Ryan, he was entirely fictional… perhaps he was somebody that I longed for to be in my own life. He’s turned into a few people that are in my life now, but not just one. Ryan has a little bit of this person and a little bit of that person.
The honeymoon isn’t over yet…
FAR from over! It’s really just begun!
I don’t understand Randie, but I try to avoid Vespids.

So as to not get run over?
Every couple has a few little unique things they enjoy that nobody else would really get unless its’ explained. My friend Lance married a military woman who had no care for flowers and started calling him a ‘lily’ since he was physically weaker than her. Nowadays whenever they’re apart he sends her photos of flowers….. with bees on them. Her nickname? ‘Bumble’
Bumble & Lily… sounds like a comic strip.
“She’s a hard-nosed infantry woman, he’s a globe-trotting radiation specialist! Together they are: Bumble and Lily! Catch the screaming, headaches, and periodic apologies!”
Yeah, I could see it for a while, actually.
