It’s at this late time of year that we look back in order to look forward. What did we do? What did we do right? What did we do wrong? How did we get to where we are!? The latter seems to be where Randie is… The time passes by quickly when you’re doing stuff! See if you can place the events in the bottom panel.
This is life itself. One day, you’ll be 60, 70, 80…
And if you’ve made good choices and accomplished good things, you’ll look back on your life and say, Ahhh, yeah!
And then you’ll look forward again, because there’s still more good stuff to come.
Yes. I can’t help thinking of that Carol Burnett song “I’m so glad we had this time together…” I want to have that sung at my FUN-eral. I want paper hats and silly stuff. ANY hoo… that’s not just around the corner… knock on wood… so onto today!
I want a New Orleans funeral. Jazz band, party, alcohol, dancing. By the time it’s paid for, there won’t be anything left for my kids to inherit.
And to insure a good crowd, at the end there’ll be a raffle… winner gets my hearse.
That’s going out in style!
We have the leap-year miracle coming up—there’s one extra day between us and Christmas next year.
Oh! It’s a Leap Year, is it? Special times. I wrote a leap year cartoon the last time it came around… Mouse was in said toon.
A quick year, but a good year nonetheless, for R&R.
And perk up, Randie! The Twelve Days of Christmas START on Christmas and run through Ephiphany (Jan. 6).
I do so like the idea of the 12 days of Christmas. We Americans start the minute Thanksgiving is over. The Europeans start on St. Nick’s Day on Dec 6th… so their month of holidayness starts later and then goes later… I like that. Today would be the FIVE GOLDEN RINGS! Sing that day with gusto!
According to the (I’m not kidding) 32nd annual PNC Wealth Management Christmas Price Index, buying all 12 Gifts for the 12 Days of Christmas would cost $34, 131, up .06% from 2014.
If you are the kind to repeat each previous gift on each succeeding day, then the cost soars to $155, 407.18. (The article is at cbsnew.com, on Nov. 30, 2015)
I think we’ll just go with um… fruit.
I rarely have to look around and ask ‘why is it so late in the year?’ because a very good friend of mine when I was younger always told me to ‘Leave early, walk slow, arrive early, and never feel rushed.’
Best advice I ever had. It really helps negate that ‘where did the day/week/month/year go?’ feeling! Try it if you can.
Ha… well, I always seem to be the “hold up” when my people and I go places. THEY are always waiting by the car… and I’m still adjusting the contents of my bag or something. Inevitably, I always forget something when this happens.
Good advice, though!
Wow, you just did something new and beautiful with Year-end angst; with Suess’s narration the last frame is just glorious!
I’m enjoying your Patreon essays as well, but since I don’t Facebook (its the best way I can make time for art) I don’t know how to comment except here. So…you listed some creative possible directions for your talents, they all appear to involve sharing great art with others; wonderful! Here’s to 2016, connecting more people visually with beauty and uplifting values!
Very sweet collage. So many happy memories!
Thank you… It was fun to look back over the toons from 2015.
