Now this is MY idea of a fun Friday night… cool tunes, tacos, coffee, and tooning, or in this case, art-ing.
This has reminded me of a story I had forgotten – the instructor used to tell us stories of her mis-spent youth during life drawing class, which I at least appreciated being the model and never the student.
In college she and her friends wanted a real ‘hand-painted VW Bus Hippy-Van’ except that every VW Bus on the West Coast had been snagged by 1970 so they settled for a Ford Florist Delivery Van that was old beyond any hope of repair. After grad school she was hired by a university in the Dallas area and discovered that east Texas in 1974 was a very bad place to have a ‘Hippy Van’ since hippy in that region was short for ‘Drug-Crazed Hippy’ She was lucky to drive 5 miles without being pulled over by the police.
I have heard many a story about Texas and the “tolerance” they have. Drugs and Texas… don’t.
Although, I love me some Mystery Machine.
