If this lingers much longer…well, you can consult all the artists and writers and baristas you know, but, if they’re on the ball, their conclusion will be the same: only a doctor can help her.
Friends always help the mending. When I’m in the hospital, I love when friends come to visit, stay for ten minutes, then leave. At home, they can stay for much longer.
Is the latter better? Of course it is! hahahaha… friends DO help mend things! You remember when Enid came to the rescue after Twinkie got a hold of Harold, yes? Enid is also a stufftie surgeon.
Brig,
When you’re in the hospital, all heal-ifying, the short visits are best. Best by far. The only exception was my wife, who would come down for hours at a time and just read to herself while I slept. It was nice knowing I could wake up any time and see her there. It was also nice to know I could drift off without guilt. With visiting friends, it feels like you have to make an effort to entertain THEM.
It’s a long road to recovery, but having good friends to help stimulate the mind is probably very helpful in that regard. A change in circumstance and presence of new people can do wonders to get things moving. And of course, artistic endeavors! Creative expression is a vital way to combat depression.

Enid’s official position in life, other than a member of the Art-o-rama Mamas, is an art therapist… so technically, she’s a doc. ish.
