Randie isn’t convinced that her name shouldn’t be on the label. And if you’re not sure who Jeff Koons (with an ‘s’) is… he’s an artist known for many things, but this sort of thing in particular.
Golden gnomes are marching, marching o’er the world. Oh to be a golden gnome, with their flags unfurled. Creepy garden golden gnomes, messing with your mind. Randy’s in a nightmare and the golden gnomes aren’t kind.
On my walking for peace o’ mind/exercise route, I take my life into my own hands… by walking past University Park Elementary School’s little California native plant garden. It is tended by a blue gnome. It is a rather large gnome… his presence is made KNOWN… I usually walk a little faster when I get to the school… and between you and me… I don’t think he does a very good job tending the overgrown shrubs etc.
Splash a little purple on them and call them LSU gnomes. Geaux Tigers!
Maybe a purple scarf… ala Hogwarts…
Preach it, Spill!
Perhaps Spill was told upfront what was expected. Randie just sees that her hard work was taken credit for.
And here we see the line between workwoman and artist, practical and fanciful, sober and drunk…… and mostly ‘friend of the artist’ and ‘foe of the artist!’. To be fair, it’s not necessary….. but it would be polite to mention the help. Unless he paid SO WELL they shouldn’t be complaining!
It is a complicated issue. When an artist hires someone to create an aspect or piece of a work of art, fine… it wouldn’t be necessary to credit… but if 99 percent of the art was created by said hired artists… I think there is an issue. (However, there IS the sticky issue of Jimmy paying for the upfront costs… so there is that). But really… this whole thing ought to have been an artist collaboration with everyone’s name on the label.
The big problem I think is that there’s no formal titles for art. Hollywood has directors, producers, everything right down to gaffers and grips. The art world has ‘Artist’, and sticking someone’s name on it besides yours is sharing credit….. and people seem not to like doing that. It wouldn’t kill to have something like ‘Envisioned by’ and ‘Concrete work by’ and ‘Assistant painter by’……. you know, so everyone knows who did what. Credit where it’s due. But of course people want a nice tidy placard that says ‘Name, Artist’…… even if the project takes up three square miles of terrain. Thorny issue indeed.
The gnomes go marching one by one, HRUMPH! HRUMPH!
The gnomes go marching one by one, HRUMPH! HRUMPH!
The gnomes go marching one by one
And later we’ll see all the mischief they’ve done
All the gold…gnomes…march-ing…down…101…to…Ran-die’s place!
Hahahah… it’s a straight shot… unless they take the HWY 17 route over the Santa Cruz Mountains… really, that’s a pretty route… takes longer… but pretty.
