If you remember, Kai & Randie went to college together… they go WAY back. Kai is a DJ and jazz musician and is in town for a gig. They have lots to catch up on.
Was Kai’s new look modeled after a real jazz musician from back when? He looks very familiar, but my memory can’t find the proper name to match the appearance. The hat, glasses and beardlette seems to shout 50’s jazz.
Okay… so sometime back, I was on Michelle Lesniak’s website. If you watch Project Runway, you know that she is a Portland Fashionista and she won PR a few years ago. Anyhow, she collaborates with Mr. Moo (Milo Hayden), a musician also from Portland. I found Mr. Moo’s portrait to be Kai-like. So I used him as a model. However, Kai’s has STRONG 1950’s Jazz vibes… good going’ on your assessment.
I joke that the only things in Barstow are gas stations, fast food restaurants, and motels. It also has a USMC base there… which is how I came to know it… 4 years of getting to know Barstow… thus the “Barf-stow” comment.
Robert;
You can forget Winona. There’s almost nothing there. The Census Bureau doesn’t even count it as an individual population area. I mean, I like it, but I’m an Arizonan. Anyway, nearby Two Guns and Twin Arrows are more interesting. But small? It’s not even mentioned in order on the East-West town recital in the song. 🙂
Take it Easy, Robert, and go a little further east on Route 66 to Holbrook and stay at the Wigwam Motel, one of the few remaining motels from that era.
Everyone has that ‘town they have history with’. Mine’s North Bay, Ontario. Nice little city, for a freakin’ tar pit you can’t seem to get out of! Still, it’s always good to see old friends like Kai! Kiss the next day goodbye to catching up!
Yah… I joke about Barstow A LOT… my closest friend living there moved around the time I did… but we pals on Facebook. No need to go back there, really… unless I need to stop for gas… but I’d not really be going anywhere out there to… never mind.

Barstow? Barstow, California? I’ve been to Barstow.
Wow… it’s not the edge of the world but you can see it from there. 😀

“Flagstaff, Arizona…don’t forget Winona…Kingman, Barstow, San Bernadino…”
A good song for a crummy locale. I will say, however, I spent Jr. High and two years of high school there… and the people are very down to earth.

You could be standin’ on the corner of Winslow, Arizona. It’s claimed there’s such a fine sight to see. Or maybe it’s such a fine site to see.
