Birthday-time!

Ever wake to the smell of coffee? I think those times are special… the first thing that hits your nose is the sweet promise of a cup filled with joy-juice! I am rarely in bed after 7 am and that’s a sleep-in morning. 6 am is the usual… unless Mouse decides differently. So I’m usually involved in the making of coffee.
Randie has all the reason to get up today…
Will something be waiting for her, or will it have to be found under their Christmas tree?
Oh… an-ti-ci-pay-yay-tion is making us wait!
‘It’s our birthday and we wants it, my Precious!’ Just don’t ride a Vespa in your birthday suit. You’ll want to keep your birthday clothes clean.
No birthday suit riding! When you’re riding at 40 mph, bugs get into the darnedest places.
Do I want to know how you discovered such a fact?
When I was young and impressionable (i.e. gullible) I did get talked into attempting nude skydiving. It was briefly trendy. A passing fad.
There might be something genetic here. When they were younger, my kid and her friends took out one of the horses at night (the smaller one) and took turns playing Godiva. And I ain’t talkin’ about chocolates! Also the time they drew cutie marks on their boosinkies.
The roasting plant for Community Coffee is across the river from where I work. I can come to work (or go home) to the smell of coffee roasting!
SO JEALOUS! That must be joyous! We do have the Cherry Bean coffee house that has a roaster in the back of the establishment… so we get whiffing every so often.
There used to be a Schilling spice packaging facility on my 4 mile commute – it was fun driving past there, too.
I wish. I haven’t smelled anything in years.
condolences. Coffee scent is one of the great joys.
While it’s true I don’t get simple little pleasures like that, on the flip side I also don’t get any unpleasant smells, so….. fair split I guess? It’s not all bad.
Been a loooooong time since I awoke to the smell of coffee! The curse of the early-risers. WE are the ones who make the coffee.
Happy Birthday, Randie!
Ah… then you get to grind the beans. That’s nice … the freshest of fresh coffee smelling going on then. Maybe one day, someone will beat you up… in a nice way.
I’ve never smelled coffee (anosmic) – that and no baking cookies smell are really the only 2 downsides though.
Oh dear… more condolences. Judy made Snickerdoodles last night for Open Studios… and it was, well, pretty amazing.
Yes but no smell of stinky garbage, sweaty gross guy on bus (or older sweaty brother when stuck in small car for drives), no smell of when people get sick, or gross public potty smells…the list of the smells people complain about is *much* bigger than the list of smells people look forward to.
There’s the silver lining. It’s funny… reading your list of smelly things actually recalled, rather vividly, how those things smell. Ew.
I love the aroma of coffee beans and brewing coffee, but hate the taste. I will stick to my tea and brewing a good cup of tea can have much the same effect.
I’ve heard others say that, too. So you like drinking tea in coffeehouses. Do you like chai? I like chai.
I don’t know how you can take it, waiting to see if Randi gets a nice yellow wasp for her birthday, waiting all weekend for the unveiling of Birthday morning!
Yes, I’m sorry for the cliff hanger. It’s the downside to printing only twice a week. Will she? Won’t she?
