Wouldn’t it be great if it were close enough to drive. As Michael says below, it is a 2 day drive if you are a meander-er. But you can do it one day, as I did… start early, get in late. We drove a VW Golf with gas stops and short breaks for meals and it took us from 7:30 am to 9pm. Thar be big mountains in between.
We made that trip back in ’88, but drove the PCH all the way, which definitely qualifies as ‘meandering’. Well, I guess it’s not REALLY the PCH that far north, but it is also not the interstate.
Michael… I must say that Jupiter Pluvius has been quite busy tossing bucketfuls of water our way… It has been quite the festival of rain, I’d say. Surprisingly, it hasn’t bothered me as much. I use my umbrella (that’s how you can tell I’m not FROM Oregon… they don’t use umbrellas)… the early sunset does take some getting used to… and my vitamin d is very low! Seriously.
It’s always good to have a reliable friend. Definitely someone to make a ‘week long visit every three months’ kind of arrangement for! And just think, they could ping-pong back and forth! Plus, having more chapters of the Art-O-Rama Mamas CAN’T be a bad thing!
Don’t write, spill…paint her a message.
Painted postcards would be cool.
A friend like Spill is very rare.
So how long a drive is it? Any chance of weekend visits, one way or t’other?

Pete,
Monterey Bay to Portland would probably take all weekend (or longer) to drive, one way. Flying is quicker, of course.
So Brig, how do you like Portland’s Rain Festival and sunset before five PM?

Helping someone move is a good move. Helping someone pack? Now THAT is a friend.
