Bad Dreamy
Jun14
I had fun with this toon. One, I dream of tornadoes when I am stressed. Two, I actually dreamt this where I was trying to escape tornadoes whilst on a tricycle. Those things don’t move very fast… tricycles, I mean. Three… I always have fun drawing the gnome stuff.
I see someone has been overdosing on the guilty conscience brand LSD before bed, yikes! When you start having nightmares like this, it’s officially time to take a breather and realize you are drastically overthinking a situation!
When things eat your brain, it’s hard not to have the nightmares.
Oddly, I know this right now. It’s like I knew how I’d be feeling when this comic dropped…. I don’t have guilt, but other stuff eating my brain. Weird.
Ze human brain, she is ze funniest of leetle beasties, no?
Oui! Très drôle!
Looks like she’s feeling a little blue…
A LOT blue. Blue. Yes.
So when you paint a garden gnome blue, you get Papa Smurf with a starched hat?
True! And for the record, I love Smurfs.
Who doesn’t love Smurfs? Smurfs are so, well, Smurfy!
I can relate to being painted, since I’ve been playing Coyote in the Ceremonies of the Seasons on the Reservations for three years now. It involves wearing only three colors of paint that you make yourself from natural ingredients (in this case black, red and white) and Coyote’s mask that is known to have existed since at least the 1880’s. The Midsummer Ceremony and the Pollen Festival are only three weeks away now.
Wow! That’s cool… Coyote is a trickster… so you must be enjoying that. What tricksy things will you be up to?
GET Smurfy!
The Ceremonies of the Seasons last from Sundown and Sunrise, with dozens of dancers and an array of drums that can be heard up to 25 miles away. It can be a bit overwhelming. If the drummers or dancers start to lose their time, Coyote rushes out to fix things. In Apache lore he is fairly harmless but he messes things up even when he tries to help, so the drummers and dancers have to concentrate on ignoring him. In that way Coyote’s part is to use chaos to restore order.
On the upside, having dreamed the worst, whatever really happen has to be better.
Right?
THAT is a nice way of looking at it. Yes… tornadoes and paint-spraying gnomes ARE the worst!
She’s like Blueberry Girl from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!
Hahahahahah! I hadn’t thought of that! She does look like … Penelope? The blueberry girl.
Violet, obviously. 😛
Ha! THAT’S right. I can now see her repulsive father person saying her name now(from the movie)… thanks! Where did I get Penelope from?
Violet Beauregarde
I remember watching the film as a kid. I hated the Umpaloompas and the scene in the boat going through the tunnel. Even though I like Gene Wilder, the movie was never a favorite of mine. BUT, I know it’s a classic. Read the book?
Something that Randie might enjoy:
C.M. Russell Museum will host ‘Build a Gnome’ class on Fathers Day8

Or maybe not…
I would enjoy it… Randie might not! hahahaha… VERY cool though… thanks for the link… very different gnomes… but cool! I love things made from discarded or different readily available materials. Nice.
The museum is not far away from where I live. One of their activities has artists do 5-minute fireworks. It is amazing how detailed they are. Mostly Western scenes.
That’s very cool. I think active art communities add a vibrancy to a place. You are most fortunate.
Hair dreams. I’m bald now, but I used to have long rock n’ roll hair. I sometimes have a dream I still have my locks.
Bald and bearded is rocking right now… I think you’re on trend, my friend.
