Chapter: Longing and Other Inconveniences
Location: Cypress City, the apartment
Ryan is a good solver… he looks for ways that action can be taken in order to solve the problem at hand. He’s good at keeping those gears in motion… whereas Randie… if you tell her there is no way, she’ll usually sulk over it and then accept it… begrudgingly.
Here’s an early Squid Row where Ryan lays it out…
That last panel is ASTOUNDING! Of course for the way the story turned out, but I mean from a technical point of view. Ryan’s head on Randie’s shoulder; his arm’s holding her to strong yet gentle; Randie’s body stretched out to hug her guy…
Très impressionnant, Brig!
Thank you, Pete… with new format, more attention to R&R bodies… using more photos as reference… fun!
She has no income of her own?
More on that later! … but since she is no longer working at Pfaff’s Arts & Crafts… no.
Once again, beautiful background. Really keeps the artsy theme going?
Is Ryan breaking the fourth wall in panel one and providing a recap for the reader? It’s interesting that he’s speaking out loud instead of thinking, as in the following panel.
THank you, Dada… that is an actual painted something or the other I did some time ago.
Yah, I think I did that on purpose for difference-ies. I’m not sure if I like it or not… but It were done. And no, I don’t watch “House of Cards” … even though I am a Kevin Spacey fan. Too many f-words and stuff for me.
“Really keeps the artsy theme going?”
That question mark was supposed to be an exclamation point. Oooooops.
Oh, yes… I see… I missed that… now I know? I mean, now I know!
WOw-wow. The combination of heartwarming dialogue, dynamic poses and energetic background produced a beautiful synergy. Really excellent page
THank you, Bscruffy… I feel happy that this one is pleasant to look at… and read. It was a bit of a risk to go so bright on the background, but it seems to have worked. Yay!
The problem with telling someone something can’t be done is that they tend to believe it more than you mean. Glad clarification is available in this instance! Happy Randie is a lot more fun to read.
I agree… Happy Randie is more fun… it is sometimes hard to keep the balance with her moods. She’s a moody artist who can really feel lost and sad at times. That needs to get in there, too. But I have to make it so I don’t depress people. It’s slippery.
Usually, I can’t stand fictional couples after they get together. It But you did such a good job developing them as individuals. Rather than making a two headed monster “couple” character, they are still them! I love it!
Good good! It’s funny… I drew them so long apart, that drawing them together is a bit awkward at times. Also, artists are, for the most part, extremely individualistic. I’m glad that you are liking the “them” without the “two-headed monster” thing… (I love that term!… well done… and also that could be their Halloween costume! hahahaha!)
So, had it already been explained why Randee gave up the store (the distance from the new apartment, perhaps)? It just goes to show how well these two mesh. Ryan understands Randee’s need to be independant, and I’m sure it would be a slight relief not be her sole outlet (besides the bus and other public transit) for transportation.
